Toyota has unveiled a stunning concept car that replicates the iconic Land Cruiser Prado: the ROX. This open-top roader, unveiled before SEMA in Las Vegas, combines rugged performance with a bold modern design.
The ROX concept, short for ‘Recreation Open eXperience‘, is a testament to Toyota’s commitment to innovation and mobility. By removing the roof and adding a cargo bed, Toyota has transformed the Prado into a versatile and fun roadster.

External Design
The ROX’s stylish exterior is a blend of classic Land Cruiser features and modern design cues. Highlighted by hot fenders and large off-road tires, the car’s strong muscles exude power and strength. The front features a bold grille and aggressive headlights, while the rear displays a bold design with integrated taillights.
One of the standout features of the ROX is its open top design. The soft sliding roof can be pulled back for outdoor driving. The trunk has been converted into a functional cargo bed, allowing for easy transportation of gear and equipment.
Inside the Cabin
The ROX’s interior is equally impressive, combining practicality with a touch of luxury. Weatherproof 3D-printed interiors and heated Heritage Orange leather seats create a rugged yet elegant atmosphere.

The car has a variety of advanced features, such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, a premium sound system, plenty of driver assistance technology and the interior boasts thoughtful add-ons such as built-in safety features and webbing storage solutions.
Performance and Capacity
The ROX retains the Land Cruiser Prado’s powerful turbocharged 2.4-liter engine and standard eight-speed automatic transmission. However, Toyota has made several changes to the car to improve its increased capability on the road. These include an upgraded exhaust system, redesigned steering, a fixed front axle, long-travel suspension and 37-inch off-road tires.
The ROX’s impressive ground clearance, four-wheel drive and rugged construction make it well suited to tackling challenging off-road terrain

While the ROX concept may not work, it is a testament to Toyota’s design and engineering prowess. This bold and exciting car showcases the capabilities of the Land Cruiser platform and points to a possible future for the iconic off-roader.
