The 2025 LX 700h hybrid, Lexus’ priciest SUV to date
Additionally, an Overtrail variant makes its debut in the LX lineup.

With the addition of a hybrid version to its flagship SUV, Lexus is broadening its full-size lineup. Customers seeking more power now have an electrified option with the fourth-generation Lexus LX, which has been available for purchase for a few years. It has a healthy premium, as one might anticipate.

Starting at $115,350, including destination, the 2025 Lexus LX 700h is significantly more expensive than the non-hybrid Premium trim LX 600, which starts at $106,850. To give it a distinct position in the lineup, Lexus even introduced a trim level that is only available for hybrid vehicles.
The hybrid Lexus LX isn’t that revolutionary.
Let’s begin with the fundamentals. The 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and nickel-metal hydride battery from the LX 600 are borrowed by the LX 700h. Better yet, unlike many other hybrids, it does not use a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) but rather the same 10-speed automatic transmission.

With a combined output of 457 horsepower and 483 pound-feet of torque, the battery significantly increases the LX 700h’s power. In contrast, the non-hybrid LX produces 479 lb-ft of torque and 409 horsepower.

The hybrid’s fuel efficiency is expected to improve marginally to 20 mpg combined, compared to 19 mpg for the LX 600, as an added benefit. Though it is primarily made for the trails, this is by no means a Prius.
In relation to trails, let’s discuss the Overtrail.
Lexus only offered the Overtrail trim for the LX 700h in 2025. This is the least expensive option for an LX 700h and comes with 18-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain rubber, an underbody skid plate, and electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials for improved traction on rough terrain. as well as a 2,400-watt inverter in case you become stranded in the middle of nowhere.

According to Lexus, this is the first hybrid system that uses a starter and alternator to ensure a smooth start each and every time.

Off-road capabilities like active ride height with adaptive variable suspension, multi-terrain drive modes, underfloor cameras, electric power steering, crawl control in low range, and downhill assist are standard on all 2025 LXs, so this trim level doesn’t add as much as it might seem.
The luxury of Lexus is still very much in place.
The latter is the most luxurious version of the LX, featuring four seats with massage and reclining features and diamond-stitched semi-aniline leather trim.

All LX models now come with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which packs in the value quotient. This includes proactive driving assistance that keeps an eye on potential road users, such as bicyclists and pedestrians, lane-keep assistance, radar cruise control that engages at any speed, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, and pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection that can steer in an emergency.
Final thoughts
I played around with the different colors to see what would look best on Lexus’s newest SUV using the LX hybrid configurator, which is now operational.
There are only four paint options, so I selected the free Nori Green Pearl and paid $2,660 for the Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound stereo. This comprises 25 speakers that use 2,400 watts of electricity. My build came to a total of $118,010.
It’s your turn now. Do you think the hybrid is worth it? How would you construct your Lexus LX? Tell us!
